Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression is a non-surgical, traction-based treatment for herniated discs in the neck and lower back, also known as “slipped,” “bulged” or “ruptured” discs.

When spinal disc herniation occurs, the pressure in the spinal disc becomes so great that a tear occurs in the disc wall. This can lead to numbness and tingling sensation known as sciatic pain. Through spinal decompression, we reduce the pressure inside the spinal discs, increasing nutrients, oxygen and moisture to the disc and alleviating sciatic pain.

Patients with pain located in their back, neck, arm or leg may be helped by spinal decompression. In addition to patients with herniated discs, spinal decompression treatment can also benefit patients with spinal stenosis, sciatica, facet syndrome and spondylosis.

Although a spinal decompression procedure may sound intimidating, the treatments are often considered completely painless. In fact, many patients fall asleep during the spinal decompression session. This treatment can also be supplemented with physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments and/or rehabilitation in order to reduce inflammation and assist the healing process.

Bel-Ray Wellness staff can design a specific treatment plan after an initial examination. Schedule a consultation to learn if spinal decompression is right for you.
